Tyre are the only point of contact your Kia has with the road surface; therefore they should be of the correct size, specification, be in good condition and inflated to the correct pressure. Most importantly they should checked regularly and before any long journey. Worn or incorrectly inflated tyres can be dangerous and can cause serious accidents. Ignoring tyre wear and tear could also result in a police fine and points on your driving license. Current legislation requires at least 1.6mm of tread across the central three quarters of the tyre and around the entire circumference. UK law allows for a fine of up to £2,500 and 3 penalty points for each illegal tyre, so do make sure your tyre pressures and tyre wear are checked regularly. This is easy to do, as many petrol station forecourts have tyre inflation machines that can be free to use. For the recommended tyre pressure of your vehicle, please refer to your Kia owner’s manual.
Correctly inflated tyres will also ensure that your vehicle achieves better fuel economy and provides maximum cornering, road holding and comfort when driving in both wet and dry conditions.
